Livacox® Coccidiosis Vaccines - Biopharm (Czech Republic) In 1965, the Research Center for Veterinary Drugs was established in the middle of a wood situated 20 km south of Prague. Under the leadership of the Director, Prof. Bohumil Ševcík, DVM, DrSc., the Center became a scientific and research base for research and development in the sphere of veterinary medicine. Over more than 30 years, 170 products – representing virtually the whole veterinary range manufactured in enterprises of the former pharmaceutical concern SPOFA – were developed or innovated at this Center. Particularly the series of products designed for reproduction control of pigs and cattle achieved a remarkable completeness. The Research Center has undergone gradual transformation in the course of the privatization processes, reaching its present state as the joint-stock company Biopharm, Research Institute of Biopharmacy and Veterinary Drugs, that grew out of its multi-year tradition and continues to ensure the research and development of veterinary products. However, the company´s present activities conspicuously extend beyond the framework of veterinary medicine. In addition, our specialized units carry out numerous studies and tests for human pharmacy and other branches in the sphere of pharmacology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, protozoology, organic synthesis, endocrinology and marketing. Our company´s broad spectrum of activities facilitates a complex offer of services for pharmaceutical companies. We are able to ensure the entire development of veterinary products, including the preparation of registration documentation both for inland and foreign Regulatory Authorities. Development and services are performed in compliance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Clinical Practice (GCL) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). In the course of the nineties, the development of two Livacox® vaccines against coccidiosis in poultry was accomplished. A manufacturing unit complying with rules of Good Manufacturing Practice was built for their production. The vaccines have aroused much interest and have been introduced not only on the domestic market, but are successfully exported to many countries on four continents. Our range of products has been gradually extended also to products designed for game. Thanks to tight collaboration with other manufacturers, a wide assortment of drugs for veterinary practice may be offered to our business partners. The rich experience and the professional qualifications of our workers, as well as targeted investments into up-to-date and sophisticated equipment and technologies have created favorable conditions for successful cooperation with our customers. In Turkey Biopharm operates its Livacox biologicals line within the distribution activities of GUNESLI. |
